2021 Sancerre Tonnellerie Thirot C02 - Loire Valley White
One of the most famous white wines of France's Sancerre from the Loire region. The Loire is the longest river in the whole of France (1020 km) which starts in Ardèche (Rhône). The wine is named after a small town in the French department of Cher. The ancient village situated on a hill on the western Loire shore and surrounded by vineyards.
The AOC dates from 1936 and then applied only to white Sancerre made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape, but since 1959 the AOC includes both red and rosé Sancerre wines made from the Pinot Noir grape.
Father and son Thiriot sway over Domaine La Tonnellerie in the hamlet of Bué, but despite that it is a small village, 350 inhabitants, Bué is considered the finest and best Sancerre.
A modern style Sancerre, aromatic and relatively fruity. Gooseberries prevail with some neatly herbaceous, all in a light accessible style.
