Founded in 1812, Laurent-Perrier has been avant-garde in creating unique and elegant Champagnes for nearly two hundred years, making it one of the world’s most esteemed Champagne brands, and also the largest family-owned brand. Located in the northeastern region of France, the Champagne region has one of the coolest possible wine-producing climates, which is moderated by the Marne River and the region’s proximity to the ocean. Laurent-Perrier is based in the picturesque village of Tours-sur-Marne – an ideal location at the intersection between Champagne’s three foremost sub-regions: Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs.
This Champagne is a blend of Chardonnay (45%), Pinot Noir (40%), Pinot Meunier (15%). Blended from over 200 base wines from more than 50 crus, the average vineyard rating on the quality scale is an impressive 94%. Between 10% and 20% of the blend is comprised of reserve wines, which allows the winemaker, Michel Fauconnet, to ensure stylistic consistency year after year.
Pale gold with a delicate and fine bead and a bouquet of subtle spice and hints of citrus. Warm toasty notes balance the freshness of the fruit. Medium-bodied and very easy on the palate. Perfectly balanced: a soft mouthfeel belies the strong structure of the wine. Finishes clean yet delicately lingers.
