Ilegal Mezcal Reposado is aged for four months in medium-charred 200-liter ex-Bourbon barrels, just long enough to capture the cask notes while preserving the true heart of the agave.

The tangy flavors from the casks are also present, intertwining to create a complex spirit. 

Ilegal Mezcal is made in Oaxaca , Mexico, from sustainably sourced Espadin agave, using traditional methods and a "sin prisa" approach—meaning without haste or rush.

Each bottle of Ilegal is corked, labeled, and numbered by hand.

The brand name refers to the journey's owner , John Rexer , who took when he smuggled mezcal from Mexico to Guatemala for his bar, Café No Sé.

Today, Ilegal is fully legal and focuses on providing a smooth, approachable, and ultra-premium mezcal to share on adventures and create great stories and a truth wilder than fiction.
