Frank Phélan, the second wine of Château Phelan-Ségur was first made in 1986. It bears the name of estate founder Bernard Phelan's son. Frank Phelan was a man of character, mayor of Saint-Estèphe for 30 years, and like him, this wine grows in its own terroir, maintaining its identity and specific quality, vintage after vintage.

This lasting quality is made up of carefully selected fruit from plots of old vines on the estate blended with grapes from vines that are still too young to be included in the batches that are used for the first wine.

Grape varieties:  57% Cab Sauvignon, 34% Merlot,  6% Cab Franc, 3% Petit Verdot

The colour is intense red.

The nose is expressive, a concentrate of red fruits and delicate floral notes of old rose.

The mouth is round, fleshy and greedy. A frank attack, the texture of the mid-palate is enveloping and reveals a precise tannic structure.
