Discovered in 1976 by Maurice Clerc, the source of Mont-Béni from which Chanflor originates is born at an altitude of over 400 meters.

Located in a mountain range between the Pitons du Carbet and the Montagne Pelée, Chanflor thus finds its origin in the very luxuriant commune of Morne-Rouge.
