The Marchesi de' Frescobaldi is one of Italy's oldest wineries, with a history dating to the 1300s. The family has included medieval knights, bankers, lawyers and patrons of the arts. To the eye, the 2021 Mormoreto is an intense and vibrant ruby-red colour with purple highlights.

On the nose, it is complex, fruity, floral, spicy with empyreumatic notes. The fruity aspect is particularly articulated, mainly with forest fruits: raspberry, blackcurrant, blueberry and wild strawberry alongside hints of ripe cherry. These are followed by the spicy notes of pepper and cinnamon; hints of cocoa, tobacco, and lightly toasted dried fruit. Black tea and coffee prevail in the olfactory finish.

On the palate, it is full-bodied, harmonious, and very persistent. The tannic texture is pleasantly smooth and velvety. An extremely long finish and the aftertaste bring out its intense character.
