The story of Pope Clement dates back to the 13th century, when Bertrand de Goth, then archbishop of Bordeaux, receives these lands as a gift. Elected Pope in 1306, he took the name of Clement V and renamed his property "Pope Clement" before leaving it to the clergy of Bordeaux, who kept the production for his own consumption.
It is the arrival in co-ownership of Bernard Magrez, Bordeaux's emblematic figure, which will mark in 1985 the definitive return to a high-level production, a boom now supported by the talents of the famous oenologist consultant, Michel Rolland.
