Puligny Montrachet, situated to the south of Meursault and to the north of Chassagne Montrachet, shares with Chassagne a handful of the greatest white wine vineyards in the world. The Premier Cru vineyards of Puligny Montrachet, noted for the exceptionally high and consistent quality of the wines they produce, stretch across the upper half of Puligny's slope from Meursault to Chassagne. The Folatières climate lies near the summit of this slope, above Clos de la Garenne roughly midway between Meursault and Montrachet. The clay and chalk soil, which is very stony, drains well and warms through easily. This wine is vinified and then aged in wooden barrels for 12-15 months before bottling.
Marrying intensity and finesse, with a full richness tempered by great elegance. The bouquet, allying well-bred fruit notes of almonds and minerals, which are repeated on the palate in the long finish.
