After the upheavals of the early 1900s, particularly the First World War that destroyed more than half of the Louis Roederer estate, Léon Olry Roederer reconstructed the vineyards.
In order to bring the quality of the house's multi-vintage blends even further as well as to bring more transparency to the blends, Louis Roederer has embarked on a new approach with the creation of Collection.
Elaborated from grapes coming for a third each of the vineyards of "La Rivière", "La Montagne" and "La Côte", Collection consists of a base vintage, reserve wines aged in oak and wine from the “perpetual reserve” which takes up the principles of the solera and which was started in 2012. Each edition of the Collection is thus unique and yet always representative of Roederer's identity and know-how.
A blend of around 442% Chardonnay, 36% Pinot Noir and 22% Pinot Meunier.
Nose, notes of ripe white fruits, white flowers like acacia, citrus zest and a touch of toasted hazelnut.
Palate, is ripe, generous and endowed with an elongated structure full of purity.
Collection 242 by Louis Roederer is obvious as its freshness, precision and finesse are revealed to a level that can only be reached by craftsmen with the most total control.
