Kistler Vineyards was founded in 1978 by the Kistler family. The first vintage in 1979 produced 3,500 cases of wine and since then the winery has slowly grown to the planned production level of about 25,000 cases per year.
Steve Kistler serves as a winemaker and oversees vineyard operations. Mark Bixler oversees the lab work and is the business manager for Kistler Vineyards.
This wine is tremendously complex, straw/gold colored wine that really does run the entire gamut. It starts off with Burgundian with intense aromas of green apple and sea spray, flavors of flint and citrus, and is structured by vibrant acidity. As the wine opens, it becomes more and more Californian, with notes of roasted almonds, pineapple, lemon bar, toasted oak, and butter notes. Big, lavish, full-bodied, and mouth-watering.
