This AOC property in Lussac Saint Emilion was Jean Pierre Rivière's first acquisition (1972) as part of the development strategy of the Rivière brothers. At the beginning, the castle had only eleven hectares, a vineyard in poor condition and facilities that were not up to such a name. Gradually, acres of vines were purchased. Today, Haut Piquat can boast of displaying 30 hectares in one piece on excellent limestone plateaus and hills covered with sandy red clay formations where the noble grape varieties - 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc - can express their full potential. The fat and flesh of the wine are mainly given by Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon brings it its finesse and power.
Ideally located, Château Haut Piquat produces a fine and generous good-keeping wine with a deep purple color, a complex nose of red fruits and vanilla. The aromas are balanced and harmonious. The nose is confirmed by the palate. Excellent length.
