2013 Bonnes Mares Dom Georges Roumier Burgundy Red
The Domaine was founded in 1924 by Georges Roumier, who began Domaine bottling in 1945. He was succeeded in 1957 by his son Jean-Marie and now grandson Christophe, who joined his father in 1982 and took over completely in 1992. The Bonnes Mares 2013 is fulfilling the very fine promise it showed from cask. In the nose layers of dark and deep fruit with some sweet red notes infusing the darker berries – the minerality is accentuated by the fresh acidity offering, even more, complexity to the nose.
On the palate layers of juicy and ripe fruit – with a core of vibrant sweet red fruit. It is weighty and powerful, but still very refined with the acidity adding a lovely nerve and energy to the wine. While charming the tannins indicate that this could be a wine for long-term enjoyment.
