2018 Blanc Fumé de Pouilly Didier Dagueneau Loire Valley White

St Barth’s Wine

It's not often that one feels they are in the presence of winemaking genius, one whose energy and spirit seem to seep out of the bottle and live on. Decanter named Didier as one of the world's top ten makers of white wine, opining that his expressions tower over the rest of Pouilly-Fume's and that the makes brilliantly three-dimensional wines.

Didier Dagueneau is one of the myths of French viticulture today. Tragically disappeared in a ULM accident at the end of 2008, the man nicknamed "the genius of the hill of Saint Andelain" left his mark on this Pouilly Fumé appellation. In this land where Sauvignon is king, the names of Pur Sang, Buisson Renard and Silex continue, through his children, to make lovers of great white wines dream.

Bouquet of white flowers on the nose and candied lemon on the palate, this cuvée impresses with its volume. The length in the mouth is incredible and continues with smoky notes.

The wine already has good maturity which will become more pronounced over time. Superb minerality which will delight all lovers of Sauvignon Blanc which is magnificently highlighted here.
