The Piedmontese DOCG zone of Barolo (1.700 hectares) is responsible for some of Italy’s finest wines. It occupies the same region and uses the same grape (Nebbiolo) as Barbaresco, (640 hectares). Nebbiolo is hardly ever seen outside the confines of Piedmont. It takes its name from "nebbia" which is Italian for fog,a frequent phenomenon in the region.
The Dagromis wine of Gaja winery is a famous Barolo, made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, grown in the vineyards of La Morra. The wine is aged for 12 months in barriques and other 12 months in traditional oak barrels. It is named after the Gromis family from which Gaja acquired the vineyards in 1995.
Barolo Dagromis is a full-bodied and fascinating Nebbiolo. It has an intense garnet red color tending towards orange.
The aroma is unique and unrepeatable, with fruity, spicy, floral and balsamic aromas.
In the mouth, it gives an excellent structure and softness: the taste is warm, enveloping, savory, with velvety tannins and a very long finish.
