2021 Tour de l’Evêque Pétale de Rose Organic Rosé Magnum 1.5L - Côtes-de-Provence

St Barth’s Wine

In 1958, the Sumire family who have owned the Font-Freye estate since 1933, acquired this large estate near Pierrefeu, within the Var region. Formerly the summer residence of the archbishops of Toulon, this property bears two names inherited from its long past. Château la Tour de l’Evêque and Château la Tour Sainte Anne.

Its past belongs to the history of Provence and France. Queen Mary, Countess of Provence, gave privileges on this land to the inhabitants from the village of Cuers. The sister of King René, Queen Jeanne, the Queen of Naples, is thought to have stayed there.

Grape Varieties: 47% Cinsault, 29% Grenache, 11% Syrah, 4% Mourvèdre, 4% Ugni Blanc, 2% Rolle, 2% Sémillon et 1% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Colour is a pale rose petal, with gentle silvery hues. The nose is delicate, offering ripe strawberry and nectarine aromas, flowery notes such as peony, some orange blossom, intertwined with tangerine peel, some aniseed, and licorice coming along with a subtle smoky, but airy sensation.

The palate is dry and mellow, caressing with satin-like texture, medium-plus acidity and generous zests giving spiciness. The finish is long, with noble balsamic bitterness, offering a slightly tannic touch, ad thus a certain structure.
