2018 Pommard Nicolas-Joseph Château de Pommard G01 - Burgundy Red

St Barth’s Wine

The largest monopole in Burgundy benefits from a unique environment protected by a two-meter-high stone wall. The complexity of the vineyard’s soils comes from the alluvial, sand and gravels carried along by the Avant-Dheune river thousand years ago. The blend of the seven cuvées from the limestone and clay-rich terroirs of the clos creates a deep, elegant, and sophisticated wine.

Nicolas-Joseph extends over 3 hectares of flat limestone rocks and red clays. Divided into two distinct zones, this parcel located along the north-eastern facade of Château Marey-Monge stands out as the least limestone of the Clos. We draw from it a fleshy and complex Pinot Noir, with aromas of red fruits and melted tannins.

Deep ruby color, the Nicolas-Joseph 2018 reveals a nose marked by floral aroma.
The palate confirms this aromatic profile and reveals notes of cinnamon and cloves.
With its melted tannins, this round and fleshy Pommard could be tasted today but will not reach its peak until the next decade.
