2017 Corton Charlemagne Bonneau du Martray Burgundy White

St Barth’s Wine

The Holy Roman Emperor, Charlemagne, appreciated wine and promoted moderate consumption. He pushed his administrators to set up "precise rules for the production and maintenance of quality viticulture for the benefit of all". He required his overseers to apply innovative methods and techniques in the vineyard and in the cellars.

The hill of Corton, an escarpment topped with a forest, overlooks the Grand Cru vineyard of Corton and the town of Aloxe-Corton in the Côte de Beaune.

Complex and beautifully integrated bouquet of pear, citrus oil, toasted sesame, warm bread, oyster shell and white flowers.

On the palate, it's full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with a racy spine of acidity and superb concentration without weight, followed by a long, defined finish.
