Located in Pomerol, Château Le Pin is a troublemaker in the very famous Bordeaux appellation. The estate, which produces only small quantities of red wine, nevertheless managed to make a name for itself very quickly. Bought in 1979 from the Laubie family, Château Le Pin, which initially had just over one hectare planted with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, has since been associated with the Thienpont family.
Founded in 1842 in Etikhove (East Flanders, Belgium) by Camille Thienpont, the family wine business developed rapidly in Belgium and established itself in Bordeaux at the beginning of the 20th century with the acquisition, in 1924, of Vieux Château Certan, also in the Pomerol appellation. The wines of Château Le Pin today enjoy a solid reputation, further reinforced by the scarcity of bottles. The vines, 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc
A superb garnet hue, with a moderate concentration in the glass. A very confident and classic nose, quite smooth in its impact, but certainly classic. It also has a little scent of a vanilla flower.
A really polished, clean, defined, very pure palate with very ripe and cottony tannins, with tasty fruit aromas.
Elegant and reserved, a 2014 Le Pin with finesse.
Small volume production, as always, maybe between 4,000 and 5,000 bottles this year.
