The Piedmontese DOCG zone of Barolo (1.700 hectares) is responsible for some of Italy’s finest wines. It occupies the same region and uses the same grape (Nebbiolo) as Barbaresco, (640 hectares). Nebbiolo is hardly ever seen outside the confines of Piedmont. It takes its name from "nebbia" which is Italian for fog,a frequent phenomenon in the region.
The Piedmontese name “ Contiesa ” (Contessa” in Italian) is a “ tribute ” to the dispute that lasted more than 100 years between the two towns of La Morra and Barolo over the ownership of the Cerequio region where the vineyards are located. thanks to which this wine is produced. An agreement was finally signed in 1275, available in the archives of the city of La Morra.
Grape: 100% Nebbiolo
Nose, with notes of flowers, very delicate, fresh and aromatic.
In the mouth, notes of wild cherries and aromatic herbs, a voluptuous and harmonious body with a well-balanced texture of tannins. A great aging potential in perspective.
