In 2004, the year of the first bio dynamic trial which took place on 14 hectares, the wines were radiant, tighter and brighter. Alfred urged Jean-Michel to go further. The estate was fully converted to bio dynamic agriculture. This decision became a commitment and a challenge, but also a first for a Médoc Classified Growth.
This is the first year where Pontet Canet began using a percentage of amphorae for the vinification. Close to 35% of the wine was vinified in the amphorae tanks. The wine will be aged in 50% new, French oak barrels.
Attractive bouquet, graphite. Ripe, juicy tannin wrap around a core of intense dark cherry, plum, spice, lavender and tobacco.
The palate is medium-bodied with tensile tannin thanks to the keen line of acidity. Linear and correct, pencil lead notes developing towards the second half, with what you might describe as a classic Pauillac finish.
