Following the 1855 classification of all Bordeaux wines, Château Haut-Brion benefits from the appellation of "Premier grand cru Classé de Pessac-Léognan. This is not its only distinction. It is also classified among the Crus Classés des graves.
An exceptional year 2009
deep garnet colored and slightly closed and shy to begin, slowly unfurling to reveal sensuous notions of warm blackberries, plum preserves, mulberries and blackcurrant cordial with touches of star anise, mocha and damp soil.
The palate delivers mouth-coating black fruit and mineral layers with a very firm frame of ripe, grainy tannins, finishing long and earthy.
