Connetable de Talbot 2001 - This second wine of Château Talbot st. Julien was
first created in 1979, owing its name of Connétable, French translation, to
Constable John Talbot, an English warrior who fell at the battle of Castillon in
1453. This wine reveals the same complexity of its terroir as the "Grand Vin".
Typically made from younger vines, this wine represents 20 to 30% of the total
production of this estate.
Vineyard composition/varital profil:
75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 10% Malbec.

Château Les Haut du Pontet 2001 - Until 1975, the famous Cruse family owned
the Château Pontet-Canet and the estate was not Château bottled until
1972. In 1975, a well known Cognac merchant, Guy Tesseron purchased the
Château and today his son, Alfred runs the estate. Since the sale, an
immaculate tank room on two floors, an excellent chai plus large,
underground cellars have been built and the general consensus is that the
Tesserons have put Château Pontet-Canet back on track.
Vineyard composition/varital profil:
56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc

Les Pagodes de Cos 1998 - From 1921 to 1994, the distinguished Cos d'Estournel
did not have a second label, but instead vinified its young grapes with those of
Château de Marbuzet. In 1994, Bruno Prats decided to vinify Marbuzet
separately from the Cos d'Estournel younger vines (5-20 years old) in order to
create a second label from the great chateau. He named it Les Pagodes de
Cos in reference to the oriental towers which adorn the cellars. The château is
currently owned by the wine group Taillan.
Vineyard composition/varital profil:
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and some Cabernet Franc in varying proportions
according to the vintage.

Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux 1998 - This second wine of Château
Margaux was introduced in 1908 and now represents 50% of the overall
estate production. Generally selected from vats and barrels of a lesser
caliber than the "Grand Vin," it is typically made from the younger vines.
Time-honored techniques still prevail here. Grapes are manually harvested
and sorted. The wine is fermented in oak vats and aged in Tronçais oak
barrels as for the first wine. In general, though, Pavillon Rouge is bottled three
to four months earlier than Château Margaux. This is a superb second wine
with fine, light structure, dark ruby color and rich fruit. Pavillon Rouge does
not require a long time in barrel and matures more quickly, but still carries a
fine potential for aging in the great vintages.
